It is estimated that 1% of Australian’s are diagnosed with Coeliac Disease. Coeliac
disease is caused
by a reaction to gluten, a protein found in wheat, and other similar proteins
found in rye,
barley and oats. These proteins damage the small finger-like projections (villi)
that line the small intestine which play
a significant role in digestion. Coeliac Disease cannot be cured, however
can be controlled by eating a gluten free diet.
Given this, we at the Real McCoy understand that this is important and to offer
products which do not contain gluten. Whilst many of our products do not contain gluten, please be advised that we cannot provide a 100% gluten free environment.
